Recently I read a beautiful book from Oemar Mita, A Letter to Allah. Look, even the title is heartwarming.

Well, I finished chapter one, but this quote was driving me through a thoughts and a memories.

There is a quote from Umar bin Khatthab (may Allāh be pleased with him): “ I never worry about whether my dua will be answered or not, but what I’m more worried about is that I’m not given the hidayah to keep on dua”.

I was in unlucky circumstances several times which kept me crying while I made dua night by night. I talked and begged so much to Allah, as I believe He can help me through this hardship.

I realized that dua is a way to be more powerful to face your hardship and later I understand that in your hardship there is a hidayah to keep the dua. Crying while making dua is another level of deep feeling between peace and sadness. Because the hardest part is when you feel free from difficulties, you do not make dua. You lose hidayah to make dua.

I was also thinking about my christian friends when we lived together in a dorm at university. They are good christian, they make dua a lot and long. We were often eat together, as a muslim I just said “In the name of Allah, The Most Gracious and The Most Merciful” before eating, but I delayed eat my food since they kept the dua quite long whilst closed their eyes. I learned from them that you have to be mindful while making dua even though it is as simple as dua before eating. Thanks to Allah because of the rizk He gave in the form of food, the time to eat, the money to buy food, the friends to eat together.

Likewise in this book, there is guidance on how to make dua. That many steps are proof that dua is an incredible tool to reach your hope, hence you have to do it properly.

“As you begin to trust the Almighty more and more, you’ll have confidence, hope, and a heart filled with peace like never before. Blessed!”

So, have you made a dua today?
